NEW TOMY? AFX SUPER G CHASSIS (or is it Racemasters?)

This is a preview of the ALL NEW Super G chassis that is under development by Racemasters, USA. As can be seen by the side by side picture of the OLD (on the left) and the NEW (on the right) Racemasters  seem to be looking at making it like a combination of old Aurora G-Plus and Tyco 440x2. The chassis is slightly longer and is narrower. It also seems to have been made with the racer in mind and as we all know, that is American market. The lads in the USA really take there HO racing serious and it looks like the New chassis is going to cater for them 100%.

The New chassis will be named the Mega G so there will be no confusion with the old version. It will run neo type magnets and by the look of them you will be able to upgrade these pretty easy. The brush tubes allow you to be able to tune the brushes for optimum performance, as can be seen in the picture everything has been made for ease of replacement. The rear hubs fitted to this prototype are the solid Turbo ones so it looks as if Racemasters are going away from the old hollow type which will give you more choice of tyre like sponge or silicone. The pickups are still held down on the track by coil springs.

ABOVE - OLD CHASSIS                                            BELOW - NEW CHASSIS

The New chassis will only be made to fit the F1/Indy bodies at first which for me is a mistake. The GT type cars are far more popular so not quite sure if this is the way to go. They must have their reasons?

I am not sure if Racemasters are working on this with TOMY or if they are going on their own. I will try and find out and update you all. Release date is set for NOVEMBER if all goes well. The above pictures are only of the prototype, there could be changes so I will try and keep you up to date.

A FEW FIGURES:

 1/ 24% lighter than an SG+
 2/ 1.7 inch wheelbase
 3/ A bit over .700" maximum width, 14% narrower than SG+
4/ Removable Neo ground effect mags

Many thanks,

Barry.
